Tracking Breathing Without Wearables: New Wellness Features from Pontosense

New features give caregivers a clearer picture of wellness, without intrusion or disruption

At Pontosense, we use patented radar and AI to translate the quiet signals of everyday life — from movement to breathing — into actionable knowledge. Our goal is to help older adults live safely, autonomously, and at home longer. In doing so, we transform spaces into protective environments, safeguarding health and detecting risks without cameras, microphones, or wearables.

This week, we’re rolling out two new features designed to deepen those insights and make life easier for caregivers: Breathing Trends and Resident Records.

Breathing Trends: A New Layer of Wellness Insight

Care teams can now track residents’ breathing patterns while in bed automatically and without contactless. Each day, the system delivers clear daily, weekly, and monthly breathing rate ranges, with min–max measurements recorded every 30 minutes.

For professional caregivers, this adds real efficiency and peace of mind. Instead of performing multiple physical night checks to confirm a resident is not only in bed but also doing well, staff can get a quick snapshot of overnight wellness from breathing data. This means fewer disruptions to residents’ sleep, and more time for personal support where it’s truly needed.

“Breathing patterns tell us so much about a person’s overall wellness,” said Muxin Ma, COO at Pontosense. “By making this data available in a simple, non-intrusive way, we’re giving care teams an early signal when something might be changing — without adding to their workload or invading residents’ privacy.”

At the same time, it’s important to be clear: this feature is not meant to replace physical health checks or serve as a medical monitoring tool. Instead, it offers valuable context that supports caregiving — helping staff make better-informed decisions alongside other activity, sleep, and safety insights.

Resident Records in the Partner Portal

We’ve also added the ability to create individual resident records within the Partner Portal. Each record can be connected to a specific Home and Room, making it easier to organize information and align insights with the right person.

But this isn’t just about organization — it’s a foundation for more personalized care. With Resident Records, every insight can be tied directly to the individual, opening the door to richer context and future features that adapt to each resident’s needs.

Imagine a family with two parents in the same care community. Caregivers can seamlessly switch between each parent’s insights, supported by details like mobility needs, health notes, or environmental factors. Over time, this creates a tailored picture of each resident’s wellness, ensuring care plans stay consistent, personalized, and easier to act on.

By starting with Resident Records, we’re building the groundwork for a future where insights aren’t just generalized — they’re truly individualized.

A Step Forward in Ambient Intelligence

Together, Breathing Trends and Resident Records reinforce Pontosense’s vision: to turn everyday signals into meaningful insights that help older adults remain safe, autonomous, and at home longer. By building intelligence into the environment itself — without cameras or microphones — we’re providing peace of mind for families and giving caregivers the tools they need to deliver more compassionate, human care.

At Pontosense, our devotion to safety and dignity never wavers. These new features are another step toward a world where everyday spaces quietly protect and empower the people who matter most.
