Toronto, Canada – September 2, 2025 – Pontosense, a global leader in AI-powered wireless sensing technology, has been selected as one of only 11 startups worldwide to join the Hokkaido F Village X (HFX) acceleration program in Japan that is led by Scrum Ventures and Scrum Studio.
Chosen from a pool of 310 applicants across 29 countries, Pontosense will aim to collaborate through the program with leading Japanese corporations including Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd., JTB Corp., Tokyu Land Corp. and The Hokkaido Bank, Ltd., and municipal partner Kitahiroshima City.
“Being selected for HFX is strong validation of both our technology and our mission to build human-centric AI that improves lives,” said Alex Qi, Pontosense CEO. “Japan faces many of the same aging and wellness challenges as North America, and this program provides an incredible opportunity to demonstrate the global relevance of Pontosense’s platform.”
The program focuses on co-creating solutions that enhance regional well-being and address demographic challenges. For Pontosense, participation represents both global validation of its proprietary non-invasive radio frequency sensing technology and an opportunity to engage with one of the world’s most advanced markets for aging, wellness, and smart mobility solutions.
Within 24 hours of program kickoff, local partners have already agreed to consider deploying Silver Shield, Pontosense’s AI-driven sensing system that enhances safety and independence for older adults, both in-home and in care facilities—a clear indicator of the urgent need for technologies that improve quality of life across Hokkaido.
Pontosense joins a cohort of global innovators across mobility, sustainability, food & agriculture, wellness, and Sports, Entertainment & Stadiums. Other participants include startups from the US, South Korea, Japan, Iceland, and the UK.
